Vivek Ranadivé, Chairman and CEO, TIBCO
Mr. Ranadivé is an entrepreneur, technology visionary, author, philanthropist, and sports team owner. He founded TIBCO Software Inc. in 1997 with the vision of bringing real-time technology into the mainstream. Today, more than 4,000 companies globally use that technology. Mr. Ranadivé has authored two books that are New York Times and global bestsellers. These books are widely read in business and academia – The Power of Now, how winning companies sense and respond to change, and the subsequent book The Power to Predict, explores ways to create opportunities for businesses to look out over the horizon and to watch for the unexpected.
Mr. Ranadivé has appeared as a featured expert on real-time computing on CNBC and Bloomberg TV, and in publications such as The Economist, Forbes, Barron's, and Fast Company. In 2002, he was named one of InfoWorld's Top Ten Technology Innovators, as well as Ernst & Young's Software Entrepreneur of the Year, and in 2008 he was named the South Asian CEO of the Year by SAMBAA. He was also featured in a New Yorker article by Malcolm Gladwell, (author of The Tipping Point and Outliers), as an example of innovators who win big by doing the unexpected and breaking the rules. Mr. Ranadivé earned an MBA from Harvard Business School, where he was a Baker Scholar. He received both a Master's and Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
Adam Bricker, CIO, Vice President of Major Programmes, World Vision International
Adam Bricker joined World Vision in 2006. As the global CIO, Bricker has responsibility for the information systems of more than 700 staff in over 100 countries. Bricker also has responsibility for several of the "Big 5" and other partnership-wide initiatives, such as a global program management system, enterprise portal, communities of practice systems, and a suite of microfinance operational processes and systems.
Bricker has a Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering, and a Master's Degree in Engineering Mathematics and Applied Physics. Adam began his career as an aerospace engineer at General Dynamics in 1985, working on cruise missiles, the Space Shuttle, and hypersonic missiles. After leaving General Dynamics and before joining World Vision, Bricker held executive positions as Director of Information Systems for Southwest Airlines, VP of Information Technology for global restaurant company, Yum!, and Partner/Managing Director for BearingPoint. He, his wife, and four children currently live in Laguna Niguel, CA.
David L. Calhoun, CEO, Nielsen
David L. Calhoun is Chief Executive Officer of Nielsen. He was appointed to this role in August 2006.
Prior to joining Nielsen, Calhoun served as Vice Chairman of The General Electric Company and President and Chief Executive Officer of GE Infrastructure, the largest of six GE business units. Under Calhoun's leadership, this business annually contributed over $47 billion in revenues and $9 billion in profits to the company, driven by a team of over 120,000 employees around the world.
During his 26 year career with General Electric, Calhoun served as President and Chief Executive Officer of multiple business units, including GE Lighting, GE Employers Reinsurance Company, GE Aircraft Engines, GE Transportation (Aircraft and Rail) and ultimately GE Infrastructure.
Calhoun is the co-author of a book with Rick Kash titled, How Companies Win. He also sits on the Board of Directors of The Boeing Company, Medtronic, Inc. and Caterpillar, and is a member of Virginia Tech's Pamplin Advisory Council, which advises the university on student and alumni issues.
Robert B. Carter, EVP, Information Services, and CIO, FedEx Corporation
FedEx applications, advanced networks and data centers provide around-the-clock and around-the-globe support for the product offerings of FedEx. Rob Carter joined FedEx in 1993 and has over 30 years of systems development and implementation experience.
Carter was born in Taiwan. He earned his Bachelor's Degree in Computer and Information Science from the University of Florida and his Master's Degree from the University of South Florida. Carter's professional awards include: #18 on Fast Company Magazine's "100 Most Creative People in Business" (2010); Information Week's Chief of the Year Award (2000, 2001, 2005); CIO Magazine's 100 Awards (2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006); and InfoWorld's Chief Technology Officer of the Year (2000). Carter is a member of the Saks Inc. (NYSE: SKS) and First Horizon National Corporation (NYSE: FHN) Boards of Directors, and the University of Florida Foundation Board of Trustees.
Natarajan Chandrasekaran, Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director, Tata Consultancy Services
As Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Natarajan Chandrasekaran ("Chandra") is responsible for formulating and executing the company's global strategy. Chandra joined TCS in 1987 and has been at the helm of several key TCS strategic transitions since 2002. Under his leadership, TCS has pioneered the creation of its unique Global Network Delivery Model (GNDM™) across five continents and ventured into new markets including Europe, China, and Latin America.
Chandra holds a Masters in Computer Applications from Regional Engineering College, in Trichy, Tamil Nadu, and a B.S. in Applied Science from the Coimbatore Institute of Technology, also in Tamil Nadu. For his pioneering and outstanding contributions to the industry, he received the degree of Doctor of Literature from the SRM University in Tamil Nadu in 2010. Chandra was also named "Best Executive in India" in 2010 by Asia Money and "Best CEO" by Finance Asia magazine for the second consecutive year in 2011.
Shaun Coyne, CIO, State of California Compensation Insurance Fund
Shaun Coyne joined State Fund as Chief Information Officer in September 2009. Shaun has 29 years of high-level experience in IT, successfully integrating technology as a strategic business partner in large operations. Most recently he served for six years as Vice President and CIO of Toyota Financial Services, where he successfully executed large-scale operational changes to drive financial improvements across a global IT department.
Prior to Toyota, Coyne served as Vice President and Chief Technical Officer of General Electric, overseeing systems development for retail financial services, capital real estate, and a four-year stint in Tokyo heading up systems for GE's Capital Global Consumer Finance. Earlier in his career, he held executive systems positions with Chase Manhattan Bank and Citicorp/Citibank. Coyne earned his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems and Marketing from Manhattan College and earned prestigious certifications in Six Sigma process management and the Kaizen method of value-based management.
Francisco D'Souza, President and CEO, Cognizant
Francisco D'Souza has over 20 years of experience in the information technology industry. Prior to becoming CEO, D'Souza was chief operating officer at Cognizant, with responsibility for global delivery, marketing, sales, business development, and client services.
Before joining Cognizant, D'Souza worked at Dun & Bradstreet, holding key positions in marketing, strategic planning, and business development in Germany, the U.S., and India.
His awards include: one of the best CEOs in Institutional Investor's 2010 All-America Executive Team, Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year© 2007, and Entrepreneur of the Year from the Economic Times of India in 2005. He serves on the Board of Trustees of Carnegie Mellon University and The New York Hall of Science.
D'Souza earned his Bachelor's Degree from the University of East Asia and his M.B.A. from Carnegie Mellon University.
Charles Feld, Founder and CEO, The Feld Group
As founder and CEO of The Feld Group, Charles Feld built a team of information technology executives that enabled dramatic results transforming IT organizations within Fortune 500 companies. The Feld Group was acquired by EDS in 2004, which was purchased by Hewlett-Packard in 2008. In September 2008, Feld retired as a senior executive vice president and member of EDS' Executive Committee. The Feld Group was re-launched as a Leadership Development firm in 2009.
Feld has garnered accolades from numerous sources, and has been featured in InformationWeek and CIO magazines, which placed him among its "5 Top CIOs" in 2001. His articles on IT leadership topics have appeared in Computerworld Executive Suite, Harvard Business Review, and CIO magazine. His awards include: the Smithsonian Award for Technology Excellence and the Carnegie Mellon Award for Innovative Technology. Charlie Feld earned his Bachelor's Degree in Economics from the City University of New York, Hunter College.
Laura Jelliffe-Pawlowski, PhD; Chief, Outcomes and Long-Term Follow-Up, Genetic Disease Screening Program, California Department of Public Health
Dr. Jelliffe-Pawlowski has overseen countless data collection and analytic activities which focus on understanding human health and translating research findings into public health practices. Her key projects include studies on the relationship between heavy metals and birth outcomes and studies examining the relationship between prenatal markers and specific outcomes (including preterm birth, birth defects, and developmental disabilities).
For the past two decades, Dr. Jelliffe-Pawlowski has specialized in working with extremely large population-based datasets, including sets belonging to the State of California and the National Archives in Maryland. Prior to her current position, she served as a Research Fellow under Bill Clinton at the President's Committee on Mental Retardation, as well as a scientist at the California Birth Defects Monitoring Program and California Lead Poisoning Prevention Program. Dr. Jelliffe-Pawlowski studied at the University of California, Los Angeles, the University of California, Davis, and the University of Copenhagen.
Martin Kharrazi, Ph.D., Chief, Program Research and Demonstration Section, Genetic Disease Screening Program, California Department of Public Health
Dr. Martin Kharrazi has worked in both governmental and academic settings since the late 1970s. As a reproductive epidemiologist, he has conducted studies on the effects of environmental exposures on adverse pregnancy outcomes. Dr. Kharrazi is the Principal Investigator of the NIH-funded project, "Development of a research-ready pregnancy and newborn biobank in California." His research has utilized recent advances in biomarkers, real-time surveillance, geographic information systems, environmental data bases, and record linkage to enhance research opportunities. Dr. Kharrazi was also the principal architect of the unique newborn screening model for cystic fibrosis in California.
Dr. Kharrazi received graduate degrees in epidemiology from UCLA in 1981 and Columbia University in 1990.
James Murren, Chairman and CEO, MGM Resorts International
Jim Murren became Chairman and CEO of MGM Resorts International in 2008, just as the global financial crisis approached its crescendo. His leadership stabilized the company rallying its 50,000 employees and leading a $3.8 billion financing effort that pulled MGM back from the brink.
Prior to MGM, he joined the Wall Street firm of Cyrus J. Lawrence (CJL) as a securities analyst earning his Chartered Financial Analyst certification in 1991, and later becoming the youngest member of the company's board of directors in its 100 year history.
Murren first joined MGM Grand Inc., as CFO and a member of its board. In 1999, the board added President to his title, and in 2007 he was promoted to Chief Operating Officer. As COO, Murren crafted an extensive reorganization of the company and imagined and inspired the development of the highly successful CityCenter. Murren and his wife, Heather, have been married for 20 years.
Matthew Quinn, CTO, TIBCO
Matt Quinn has been with TIBCO for 14 years. During this time he has had several worldwide roles. As CTO, Quinn works with all product groups to create a common, corporate-wide vision for all of TIBCO's products and technologies; ensures interoperability between TIBCO's various products families, as well as consistent architectural approaches across all groups; and provides overall leadership and coordination of TIBCO's product plans and technology direction.
Up until his new role as CTO, Quinn has been responsible for the Composite Application Group (CAG). This group encompasses TIBCO's SOA, BPM, Infrastructure, Monitoring and Management, Governance and User Experience technologies. This group is responsible end-to-end for the engineering, quality, delivery of product, product vision, and customer enablement.
Earlier in his TIBCO career, Quinn was a global architect, responsible for the delivery of some of TIBCO's largest implementations in diverse areas such as transportation and logistics, energy and finance. This was a hands-on role, building real systems architecture for production customers.
Chris Robinson, CIO, KPMG
Chris Robinson is CIO of KPMG and a member of KPMG's Global IT Steering Group which formulates and implements the strategy around KPMG's global use of information technology. Robinson also chairs the firms Technology Innovation Strategy Group and represents Asia-Pacific on the firm's Global Innovation and Global Knowledge Management Steering Groups.
Robinson's role is to provide vision and leadership for developing and implementing information technology initiatives. Developing a culture of innovation and continuous improvement is a primary focus for Robinson's IT team and KPMG, in order to provide its people with the best tools and technologies to aid productivity – utilizing the latest technologies to help KPMG collaborate with its 1000s of clients, and its 145,000 employees.
Robinson is a UK national who has worked extensively in Europe, the US and the Middle East. He is now based in Melbourne, Australia.
Steve Siu, CEO, CargoSmart Limited (CS)
Steve Siu, is the Chief Executive Officer of CargoSmart Limited (CS), and has been in the logistics industry and technology profession for over 20 years. Under his leadership, Siu conceptualized and oversaw the development and evolution of CS's online portal, launched on October 11, 2000. CS is now one of the most advanced applications and integration services providers offering software as a service (SaaS) for the ocean container transportation industry – with more than 45,000 members including importers, exporters, and transportation intermediaries using CS to help manage their shipments with multiple carriers throughout the shipment cycle.
Siu has a Master's degree from the Kellogg-HKUST Executive MBA program, a Master of Science degree in Telematics, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Essex, United Kingdom.
Stephen P. Thomas, Vice-President, Strategy Portfolio and Performance, AstraZeneca
Steve Thomas has been leading the Opal Program at AstraZeneca since 2007. This program is introducing a new global environment for project, program, budget, resource, and portfolio management across the value chain and across both chemical and biological products, as well as non-drug projects.
Steve has a wide breadth of pharmaceutical experience that started in medicinal chemistry over 20 years ago. His previous experience includes working in Regulatory Affairs, where he managed regulatory activities opposite the FDA, and other health authorities. Steve also managed the regulatory activities associated with the supply chain for solid oral dosage forms. In 1997, Steve moved from Regulatory Affairs and became the Global Project Manager for a major Phase III development program. Since that time, Steve has been the Global Project Manager and Global Product Director for several large late stage development programs, and in 2005, was named as a Vice-President in the newly formed Development Project Organization and served as the Global Vice President for two major Phase III and launched projects.
Sajid Usman, Global Lead – Process and Information Management, Accenture
Saj Usman leads Accenture's global process and information management practice. In addition to working directly with clients in the design and delivery of complex business applications, Usman is responsible for defining Accenture's technology strategy to support its functional (CRM, Finance, HR, ERP) and analytics offerings. He is also responsible for working with the related software and services alliances. With more than 20 years at Accenture, Usman has extensive experience in the implementation of a wide range of business capabilities across multiple industries.
Prior to his current role, Usman was the global lead for Accenture's global CRM technology practice, and previously served as the lead technical architect for the firm's Siebel and CRM practices; leading several of Accenture's most complex CRM client engagements.
Usman received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Computer Science from Boston College, and is based in Boston.
Saul van Beurden, CIO, ING Retail Banking Direct & International
Saul van Beurden is a Certified Public Accountant from the NiVRA/Business School of Nijenrode. Before joining ING, he worked as senior consultant for PwC Consulting (1996 – 1998), as COO for an IBM software company (1998 – 2000) and as senior manager for Nolan Norton & Co (2000 – 2002).
Van Beurden joined ING in January 2003 and has held various roles and responsibilities on program management, application development and change delivery within ING Insurance and Operations & IT Banking. He was appointed CIO, Retail Banking Direct & International in October 2010 and is responsible for the operations and IT within all the ING businesses outside of Benelux, including ING Direct. He is a member of the Management Team Operations & IT Banking and reports into ING's group CIO, Steve van Wyk. Van Beurden is also a member of INGs Management Council, representing the top-200 of the company. Van Beurden speaks English, French, and German.
Ashok Vemuri, Member of the Board, Head of Americas and Financial Services & Insurance, Infosys
Ashok Vemuri joined Infosys in 1999, where he has held multiple leadership roles. As a member of the executive council, Vemuri plays a significant role in defining the company's strategic direction and is also responsible for business operations in the Americas. Prior to assuming his current responsibility, Ashok was the Head of Infosys' Canada and Eastern North America Region.
Vemuri has been recognized for his thought leadership and is a frequent speaker at conferences and symposiums organized by the American Bankers Association. In 2009, Vemuri was selected as Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, and in 2008, Business Today selected him as a member in the league of Extraordinary Managers and one of the top 25 hottest young talents in India.
Vemuri holds a degree in Physics from St. Stephens College, Delhi, and a degree in Business Management from Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.
Dr. Volkmar Weckesser, CIO, DekaBank
Volkmar Weckesser is CIO at DekaBank in Frankfurt, Germany. Prior to joining DekaBank, Dr. Weckesser was CIO at HSH Nordbank and prior to that held positions at Deutsche Apotheker- und Ärztebank, Monitor Company, and Mitchell Madison Group. He holds a Doctorate Degree in Applied Mathematics from the University of Karlsruhe.
Jan Zadak, EVP, Global Sales & Enterprise Marketing, Hewlett-Packard Company
Jan Zadak serves as executive vice president of the Global Sales & Enterprise Marketing group at HP. With global responsibility for the sales and marketing of all products and solutions for the $59-billion-a-year business, Zadak leads a customer-focused team in delivering a superior experience for clients and alliance partners.
Zadak joined HP via the acquisition of Compaq Computer in 2002. Under Jan's leadership, the Sales and Marketing functions work to leverage and extend HP's portfolio of enterprise solutions to help clients in their Instant-on Enterprise journey.
A native of the Czech Republic, Zadak graduated from the Czech Technical University of Prague, Faculty of Electrical Engineering in 1988. He completed a one-year PhD study program at Universitaet Erlangen-Nuernberg in Germany in 1991, and earned a PhD from his alma mater, the Czech Technical University, in 1992.
